Overall Linking Strategies

The following include links made to internal sources (i.e., within the UN system) unless otherwise noted. External linking will utilize selections already present in the current web pages and newer links identified during the course of Phase 1(b).

DESA-Provided Links

These links are provided in the original site and administered by DESA in compliance with DPI guidelines.

Text Only (added): This link is added to most graphics-intensive pages to (a) provide low-graphics path for those who have slower Internet connections, and (b) provide alternative path for sight-impaired users who rely on custom font sizes in their browsers. This may also be used by users who are using Braille or Read-back systems, although all pages will also be able to provide alternative text. The Text-Only page will, in most cases, return to locations with graphics if the graphics are fast-loading (e.g. 2 KB less in size).

Home: This provides a return to the DESA home page. (This page will not be affected by this project because it is administered by DESA) http://www.un.org/esa

Search: This goes into the Search page for ESA-related topics. This page also includes a UN-wide search. (This page will not be affected by this project because it is administered by DESA) http://www.un.org/esa/search

Research and Analysis: This provides a list of features, studies, statistics and news sources related to ESA. (This page will not be affected by this project because it is administered by DESA) http://www.un.org/esa/research.htm

National Governments: This provides a link page to national information networks and lists of permanent missions. (This page will not be affected by this project because it is administered by DESA) http://www.un.org/esa/national.htm

Regional Cooperation: This provides a link page to regional sources. (This page will not be affected by this project because it is administered by DESA) http://www.un.org/esa/regional.htm
