Microsoft FrontPage 98 provided the web tools: an HTML editor, picture editor, hot-spot mapper, and a graphical web site management program.
FrontPage 98 from Microsoft was selected as the main tool for the Gateway's development.  Below are other handy tools (shareware or freeware) that may be of use to the developer.   Note that some of these products are free to use only for a limited period; please observe the licensing agreement.
  • WinZIP for Windows 95
A handy utility usually used for uncompressing downloaded ZIP files.  Can also be used to compress files and folders in Windows 95 computers for archiving purposes.
  • EditPlus Text Editor version 1.1
Text editor that allows to search for text strings over several directories and edit the found files. It was used in this project to strip out the META descriptions from the html files created by FrontPage.
  • LView Pro for Windows 3.x and 95
A simple utility for viewing GIF and JPG picture files.  Can be used to create 'contact prints' or thumbnail pictures as previews for viewing larger GIF and JPG files.
  • WS-FTP File Transfer program
A useful utility for uploading and downloading files to/from a web location.   Although FrontPage has a Publish feature, it does not download files in their 'native' format.  A FTP makes it easy to pull down files without adding FrontPage extensions.

You can find more of these utilities on the Internet. These files were downloaded from http://www.shareware.com
